WHAT IS IT?: Originating in Thailand, Sriracha is a type of hot sauce or chilli sauce made from a paste of chilli peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt. Thai food used as a dipping, Vietnamese food used in Pho/soups.
BENEFITS: In addition to being a sweet, tangy, delicious variety of hot sauce, sriracha also boasts many different benefits for your health. The red chilli peppers it is made from contain capsaicin which is known to help boost metabolism and aid in weight loss. Additionally, eating chilli peppers is said to boost your endorphins, helping you feel happier and promoting serotonin, which can enhance mood and memory. The garlic helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels. If that’s not enough, sriracha can also aid in the body’s ability to dissolve blood clots, fight inflammation, improve circulation, and help you fight a cold by acting as an expectorant.'
HOW DO I USE IT?: Delicious with prawns, cocktail sauce, spicy Bloody Mary, blend with tomato sauce on burger, pickled veg, sriracha garlic bread, salad dressing, glazed salmon, in mayonnaise, hot chicken wings. Apparently also good with mango! Salsa, perhaps?
